The work week was interesting- filled with ups and downs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Tuesday, I represented a client at an evidentiary hearing to determine if the after-discovered evidence, which we provided, warrants the court to vacate the client’s sentence and order a new trial. The contentious hearing lasted for several hours. I absolutely held my own. I had not prepared for the hearing and was told on the morning of the hearing that it would be me handling the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The judge held the matter under advisement and will rule in a few weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Thursday, a Common Pleas judge granted a Motion to Suppress, which I had argued two weeks earlier. The victory marked my first win of a case, which involved felony charges. It was an excellent feeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unfortunately, the week was not all puppy dogs and ice cream. On Friday, a judge granted a [bogus] Motion to Revoke Bail. The client was very disappointed and disheartened. Both he and I were satisfied by my lawyering, though the outcome was not favorable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I continue to actively effort to manage the stress of litigation. \u00a0I understand that a stress-free career is unattainable. But I’ll be stoked when the good\/solid days outnumber the stressful, gnarly ones. \u00a0The situation is about 50-50 now.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
