Today is a milestone. My (small) bank account is back to where it was when, in November 2018, based in-part on the advice of an incredible woman (with whom I, unfortunately, no longer speak), I quit my job as a trial attorney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While I am most certainly not patting myself on the back and thinking, \u201cWelp, I\u2019ve made it.\u201d I am reflecting on the many days on which, to save money, I ate dry cereal two or three times per day, or, on those weeks, when I was not sure if I would be able to afford the rent of my studio apt. and would have to ask my parents to allow me to move back in with them. Note: my parents are fantastic, but I am in my forties for Christ’s sake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am incredibly fortunate in many ways, though, today, I highlight one in particular. A buddy, who has become an awesome friend and business partner, suggested we roll the dice on a venture, which we both will continue to work our tails off to ensure we achieve some form of success. In the process, I discovered new passions \u2014 writing and learning. I intend to cultivate both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the weekend, I saw a bunch of Mazda commercials. The end of the ad shows a red car or truck or cruck–whatever the fuck it is–with the words Feel Alive above it. That is precious. Feel alive and drive our foreign car, which emits toxic fumes into the atmosphere and is powered by a non-renewable resource.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I have a better idea: Feel Alive and go for a goddamned walk. Feel Alive and ride a bicycle. Feel Alive, launch the phone through the television, and read a book.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
