Today is the 7-year “anniversary” of the accident in which I sustained a traumatic brain injury. \u00a0 Life changed forever that day. \u00a0Every year on this date, I thank family and friends. \u00a0I should do so more often, but, inexcusably, I do not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to my amazing family, friends, and acquaintances, whose path in life I have crossed. \u00a0You stood by me as I lay comatose for 13 days, saying silent prayers and showing me love that undoubtedly brought me back from the brink. \u00a0You have been there for me through the lowest of lows when I refused to like and accept this new me. \u00a0And, you have helped to make my triumphs and accomplishments all the more sweeeeeeeeet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I will, honestly, report that I am happy with life and my place in the world. \u00a0I am happy, but I am not, and may never be, satisfied. \u00a0I cannot be satisfied- not until I surf and run again; not until I land my dream job; not until I go to sleep at night, knowing that I have atoned for all the tears and worries that I caused by my selfish, stupid decision that early morning in May of 2005.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
