Pipe Bombs and Rhetoric

The President of the United States is an unapologetic racist. In other breaking news, the sun rises in the East, and bears shit in the woods.

While it is not news that President Trump is a bigot, it is no less utterly disappointing that the dude leads this country. Trump’s prejudice is obvious when one reviews his statements after the recent string of pipe bombs sent to individuals who align themselves with the political left.

Before the suspect was captured, the President lamented that “all this bomb stuff” robbed the GOP of momentum before the midterm elections. Then, when the suspect was captured, the President offered a typical statement about unity and abhorrent behavior.

Yesterday, the FBI arrested a white male whose van was wallpapered with Trump stickers. Imagine the statements and tweets had the suspect been a brown man. The President would be banging podiums about radical Islamic terrorists who enter this country through Mexico. It would be a talking point for weeks.

The President does not mention this new form of terrorism: radical Christian conservatives. No, that topic cannot be broached because the swath of those loons voted for the Orange Man in 2016.

Instead of seizing on this blatant contradiction, the Democrats will talk up more mundane issues, ex., healthcare, which does not persuade undecideds or conservatives repulsed by President Trump. In doing so, the Democratic Party misses a golden opportunity to wrestle away Congress’s leadership from the GOP.
