A rant
AG Bill Barr is a smarmy, spineless, small man. Anyway…
There has been a lot of chatter about how the arrest and prosecution of Jeffery Epstein could lead to the demise of Donald Trump. The Democrats must step out of fantasy land—the place where they hope the next scandal will destroy the President. Read your history books, kids. President Trump was accused of using misogynistic and racist language, sexually assaulting women, and paying to cover up an extramarital affair with a porn star.
Hell, Roy Moore was accused of galavanting with underage girls, yet he landed the Republican nomination to run for one of Alabama’s seats in the U.S. Senate.
The base is not concerned about these types of allegations. The priority is defeating the Democrat no matter the criminal and/or morally bankrupt character of the GOP’s nominee.
Trump will roll out tired excuses that will play to his sheep. He’ll say things like, “I didn’t know she was 15. . . . She looked like she was 18 years old. . . . She wanted to have sex, i.e., It was consensual.” Then, the diversionary campaign will begin. “Well, Bill Clinton was involved. So, what does that say about Hillary?!” “Barack Obama was born in Kenya. In Kenya, the age of consent is 13 (if there is such a law there).”
The Dems’ focus on issues of Donald Trump’s character is a waste of time and effort. Instead, highlight the dude’s policy failures. Yeah, the economy is humming, but how is the country better for it? The nation’s roads and bridges are in disrepair. Social Security is not solvent. The country’s system of public schools is steadily and rapidly declining. None of these issues will matter in 20 years because, due to the current pace of global warming, Earth will be uninhabitable.
But, viewers do not tune in to CNN for a robust discussion about infrastructure. I don’t think #PublicEducation has recently trended on Twitter. Nay, the conversation will remain focused on Donald Trump’s unsavory criminal associates. Matters, which are germane to the successful defeat of President Trump’s reelection, will be relegated.
