The world is a wonderful place.
On Saturday morning, as part of my post-workout routine, I walked along the outskirts of the city’s center. As I headed back towards downtown Philadelphia, a clear, deep blue sky was the canvas to the little-more-than a handful of skyscrapers, interrupting the horizon. There was not a single cloud.
I strode along the pavement, inhaled deeply, and marveled at the beauty of the morning sky. At that moment, despite the facemask that I dutifully wore, the anxieties induced by the ongoing global pandemic were not at the forefront of my mind. And I did not see or hear news helicopters monitoring a protest of police brutality and systemic racism. The moment was serene and peaceful. I thought, ”The world is a wonderful place.”
