The weather during this time of year in Philadelphia is usually fantastic. High temps. are in the low 70s, and lows are in the 50s. The humidity is low. With windows open, there’s no need for an air conditioner. Why would anyone bemoan this situation?!

If one lives near Broad Street in Center City, where sirens scream constantly, motorcycles roar often, and the local homeless holler late into the night, closed windows are crucial to subdue the sounds. But for the next month or two, my windows will remain open and give no protection from the noise. My ears and peace of mind endure the assault. I can hear William Wallace. “Hollld! HOLLLLLLLLD!!”
