I am trying not to miss the small but stellar moments in my life. For example, when I am writing or researching at the computer on my standing desk, my cat often climbs on the radiator and paws at me to give her a fuss. My initial inclination is to shoo her away because I am working.

But what am I busy doing? I’m not curing cancer, solving world hunger, or determining why people fawn over the kook who hosted The Apprentice. I should pause my writing or research to enjoy the moment and pet the cat as she purrs. When she’s gone, I’ll wish I gave more attention to her, not work, which will never ever go away.
