2.2.22- Name that tune.
Have you ever butchered the lyrics to a song on the radio (or Spotify or Apple Music or Pandora or . . . )? Here are two of my more egregious follies.
‘Get Out of My Dreams, Get Into My Car’ by Billy Ocean
Get outta my dreams
Get in to my car
Get outta my dream
GET OUT THE PEPSI, BABY
Get in to my car . . .
I thought Mr. Ocean wanted his belle to give him a soft drink.
‘Let My Love Open the Door’ by Pete Townsend
When people keep repeating
That you’ll never fall in love
When everybody keeps retreating
But you can’t seem to get enoughMIGHT AS WELL OPEN THE DOOR
MIGHT AS WELL OPEN THE DOOR
MIGHT AS WELL OPEN THE DOOR
To your heart
I think I knew the song’s title, but nonetheless, I thought that Pete was not interested in making the effort. Thus, the person he was singing to “might as well open the door” to their heart. It makes perfect sense.
