“What is THAT dude doing?” thought no one.
Sometimes, when I look around the gym, I realize I’m the only one writing down their workouts. I’m not sure how I feel about this fact.
I keep track of every set of every workout so my progressive overload system is based on evidence, not anecdotal thoughts about a prior session. There are times when I wonder what my fellow gym-goers think of me writing in my notebook. I try to catch myself before becoming ensnared in the rumination.
Maybe they’re recording their workouts on their phone. Or perhaps they lift with no other goal than to feel healthy. Whatever the situation, the others in the gym don’t give two flying fucks what I’m doing.
I remember the advice of a friend—”No one cares, Matt.”
