My Accident Sully 143 views

That Time of Year Again

The accident that changed my life forever occurred on Memorial Day Weekend 9 years ago.  As each year passes, the events of that weekend and the immediate aftermath become more distant in time.  Despite this fact, they remain fresh in my memory.

I will never, ever forget the sacrifices and love shown to me by family and friends as well as by the friends of my sister and parents.  Their undeniable presence provided me with the strength, and pleasant distraction, to attain the recovery I continue to achieve.

That list of names is far too long to run down, and I’d most certainly forget someone.  Thus, to the folks:
who visited me at HUP or Bryn Mawr Rehab;
who kept me in their thoughts and prayers;
who chilled with me when I lived in my parents’ basement;
who did everything they could to ensure that I felt like a normal dude at a bar or when I was out with the crowd, during the times when I felt so different;
who helped me find work- before law school, after law school;
who offer their advice and perspective as I continue to grow as a man;
Words cannot adequately express my appreciation.  Please know that you have had a substantial and positive impact on my life.

I am truly lucky –>
because I fell 30 feet onto concrete and survived;
more importantly, because I have the most awesome family.  Mom and Dad are amazing.  Bridge is my best bud;
because my friends are dynamite – a tremendous cast of characters.  Y’all have become husbands, wives, and parents.  I am heartened that you count me as one of your friends;
because I have a badass job with a boss that is as driven as he is compassionate.  The work ethic of NVT and his daughter is aspirational and inspirational.

Life is good.  I strive and effort to better handle my life’s stresses such that I may be a better son, brother, friend, and co-worker.
