President Biden has been in the news after the discoveries of classified documents at a couple of his houses. Officials found classified documents in one of the estates belonging to 45, the previous president. As a result, Democrats and Republicans have found another reason to engage in partisan vitriol. I admit that I thought, “Of course Trump is squirreling away classified documents at Mar-a-Lago. …”

A recent story in the New York Times, which some might call fake news, caused me to reconsider my snap judgment. In the article, German Lopez details how not all classified documents are created equal. Former President Obama said,

There’s classified, and then there’s classified. There’s stuff that is really top-secret top-secret, and there’s stuff that is being presented to the president or the secretary of state that you might not want on the transom, or going out over the wire, but is basically stuff that you could get in open-source.

No one knows what types of documents Messrs. Biden and Trump kept. Let’s withhold casting dispersions until we obtain all the information. There are plenty of issues that warrant our scrutiny, like police officers killing Black men.
