On the Flyers…
I do not know what changed, but since the win in a shootout against Calgary, Ilya Bryzgalov has been siiiiick. The dude has not given up a goal in his last three starts. In typical Flyer fan fashion, the yellers and screamers wanted to run him out of town. He has not redeemed himself for his dreadful season. But his quality play forces many of the casual complainers to shut it down. Go back to commenting on the Eagles and their QB situation.
My primary issue with the Flyers is the defense. They are not good enough defensively to atone for their absolute lack of any offensive prowess. Aside from Mezsaros, not one of the blue-liners possesses a slapshot. Far, far too often does a Flyer defenseman offer a weak wrist shot from the point. Inevitably, the shot gets blocked or is easily stopped by the goaltender. The next time someone other than Mezsaros hits the net with a slapshot will be the first.
On politics… S.O.S.
I do not expect Reuters, the Associated Press, or whichever news outlet Yahoo uses to offer an insightful analysis of the GOP nomination process. Understandably, NYT, or a news outlet of the like, will take care of that. However, lazy, tired, cliche reporting is deplorable. On Wednesday, 3/14, the headline on Yahoo’s News section read, “Why Can’t Mitt Romney close?” This same, exact, played-out story has been reported for several consecutive months.
Republican primary voters are still not unified behind Romney. Well, no freaking sh-! Stop reporting on issues that are obvious, indisputable, and reported ad nauseum. BREAKING NEWS: Friday follows Thursday! Take some pride in your job and find a story that is actually worthy of news.
