The small apartment I live in has an air conditioner in the window. It is loud and does not always cool the pad as much as I like. Sometimes, I wish I chilled myself in the coolness & quietness of central air. Last night reminded me of the benefit of my noisy window unit.

Some alarm rang in the area of my apartment for the afternoon and evening yesterday. The sound was annoying to the point where I wanted to blast music, podcasts, or white noise – anything to mute that monotonous whistle. Assaulting my neighbors’ ears with Tim Ferriss’s interviews proved unnecessary when I jacked up my air conditioner.

I did not lament the loud box occupying my window for a night. I was happy the appliance was cacophonous in its effort to churn out cool air.

Note: I recognize this post epitomizes “First World Problems” and that I am incredibly fortunate to have an air conditioner to cool my living space.
